DirectX 3D Acceleration on the Mac via VMWare

This is probably great news for you Mac fans….both of you.

An unexpected video has turned up showing the Windows Gaming capabilities of VMware Fusion Beta Build running on the Mac (via TUAW). Overall it’s pretty impressive and seems to handle the most demanding of game titles. According to a VMware employee, who just got wind of the video, he notes that DirectX 8.1 support will be included in both VMware Workstation 6 (Windows, Linux) and VMware Fusion (Mac), but DirectX 9 – which is required for running Windows Vista Aero – won’t be out for sometime (though it is their goal to include it).”
